Avanti- The first Indian Sports car by DC - Made by India

Some 25 years back I was walking through a auto show at Pune in India with my son and I saw a Maruti 800 car modified by DC short name for Dilip Chabbaria. Since then Mr. DC has modified cars and SUV and customized vehicles manufactured by other companies. For the first time DC has developed a car designed and manufactured in India and its a sports car. As you know there will be admirer and critics. I just saw the car on the road and thought it was a Ferrari. The only thing that came out of my Mouth was WOW. Then I searched the net to find more about it and it was the first sports car designed by a Indian who was no one few years back. The design and styling done is world class and I must admire him for doing some thing which other Indian giants could not do with 4000 R&D engineers with them.
We know the kind of effort that is required to manufacture a car. The kind of infrastructure required to engineer a product. I feel proud as a Indian to see the man from a humble beginning differentiated himself from the crowd and developed a sports car. If this car would have a BMW or a Ferrari Logo people would feel proud to own it, but then I am proud that some one in India is trying some thing different and the Government and country men should support such innovative  entrepreneur and give them a global platform to work.
Well Done DC....

Market does not pay more than your value- Did I add any value today??

Market does not pay more than your value. Every one has a market value. Some have more some have less depending upon the value one brings to the table. The most important question one has to ask before taking a action is ..Does it add value to me in any way. Value is not just monetary value. Value can be financial, physical, spiritual, intellectual, relationship, good will etc.

Argument adds no value, discussion adds value. Watching TV with bowl full of chips does'nt add value, but watching TV while cycling does add value. yes entertainment relaxation meditation all add value but it has to be a conscious decision.

Why Does Bill gate or Steeve Jobs are highly valued people and so are their companies cause they have the skill set to change the way world works. they bring immense value to the table. hence they are valueable people.

You may not pray in the night it does not matter, but do ask one question each night before sleeping. Did I add any value today. Did I learn some thing I never knew. Did I do some thing which I never did. If the answer is yes your day was worth while.

Free Branding

Dear friends, having failed in few businesses which required investments, I turned to consulting for the simple reason that I live in times where people thrive on cheating other people , the government and the society and I was not capable to get my hard earned money back from the people who used my products. Consulting is a compulsion for me as I can dig into my left over meager resources and in consulting if ever I loose some thing I loose my time and brain and I don't erode my saving. Many of us may be in similar situation.
One of the things I need to do is find ways to keep costs as low as possible and still grow. I have got assignments from word to mouth publicity and my business is growing. The most important thing in business is also to create a recall by establishing a brand. there are many good products, people and services which have not been recognized due to poor branding. I don't have the money to advertise on Airports or Roads or TV or Magazine like Forbes so I am taking the following steps which I would like to share.
1. Target- I identified that my target audience are the Technologists, Top management professionals.
2. Where do I find them ?  These people are not found on railway stations or streets, they are found in exhibitions, seminars, Airports.
3. I Bought few shirts and got logos ( Sammy Consulting)  printed / stitched at 10 Rs a piece.
4. I got to airports an hour early during my travel days and walk up and down the airport and I can see people looking at my shirt logo first. This walking helps me with exercise and I am a walking 10 Rs bill board, with the target audience looking at my name. Since my travel is funded by my clients I leverage this opportunity to brand my firms name.
5. I have a car and friends car and i stick my sticker on the rear window and its a moving publicity.
6. I attend as many trade fairs as possible and many times funded by my clients and I flaunt my shirts there. I visit each and every stall and expose myself. Some day I may have my stall when I can afford it.
7/ I conduct training programs and I wear my shirt there too and every customer visit I wear my shirt with the logo.
8/ I put my log in every mail and mail reply.
9/ And then we have social media which every one knows, I have a blog also at a very low cost and I keep writing blogs every day which takes ten minutes.
Advertising is about repeatedly exposing the brand to the target audience at minimum possible cost over the years. Do you thing expensive brands like Mont Blanc, or William Penn, having their expensive shops in Indian malls making any money. They hardly sell a pen a day but they are doing long term branding for an India twenty years for now and they need to be present even if they don't make cash profit but its one way of long term branding.

If you are not simulating- you are wasting money

In today's world of modern manufacturing if some one is not simulating their processes and products they cannot be competitive. Simulation has several advantages and many people know about it but I have discovered that simulation can have following more advantages.
Having worked for three decades we feel that we have mastered a process or a technology, then we are wrong. Simulation helps clarify those myths that gets ingrained in our system about which we are so convinced. I have personally realized that its the best tool I have to conduct my researches and clarify my several doubts that I had. I feel that the world has lost tons of money because we did not have simulation tools.
You will find that Indian railway bogies have warpage on the external body and they look shabby. These warpages are because of unpredictable distortion of sheet metals due to stresses induced by manufacturing process like welding. There is no expert in the world who can identify the stresses and its effect on a 2 mm sheet. Simulation can exactly show the effect of welding and fixturing which is unimaginable.
I see Indian manufacturers don't have their priorities right. Imagine a slew bearing forging costs 6 lakh rupees and if you loose 5 such forgings you have lost more than the direct cost of a software.
I am not writing this to market a software but i use Simufact currently for forming and I am trying to ratify many of my assumptions and I am convinced that these software's can make a huge difference between being competitive or not.
having done my research in global competitiveness I will always give top priority to technology and use of technology to be competitiveness and if you have to choose between a SUV or a simulation software for your balance sheet depreciation choose a software, or you shall waste money and time taking trials after trials and finally adopting a process which will drain out your revenues for ever.
